Why
Do You Need a Chairmat?
- Floor
coverings are an expensive investment. You want
that investment to last for years.
- You may not
realise but your chair castors can cause serious damage
to your floors over time.
- You can simply and
effectively protect your floors from the excess wear
that chair castors can cause by using what is called a
'Chairmat'.
- Chairmats are designed to protect your
floor covering investment while still allowing the
beauty of your floor to show through.
- You can get
chairmats for carpeted areas as well as hard floor
areas.
- There is a chairmat to suit almost every
floor type.
What
type of Chairmat Do You Need?
Hard Floor
Chairmats:

|
These mats are designed for tile,
concrete, wood, vinyl floors etc. They have a
smooth back. If you have a hard floor area then
you need to choose a hard floor chairmat. It is
that easy! |
| |
|
Carpet
Chairmats:

|
These
mats feature a Gripper Back for stay put performance on
carpets and Ramped Edge for easy roll on/off.
Choosing a chairmat for carpeted areas is easy too but
requires a little preparation so that you choose the
correct chairmat for your carpet thickness.
You see, depending on what carpet thickness you
have, eg: low pile or plush pile or somewhere
in-between, dictates the type of chairmat that you need
to purchase!
N.B It is recommended that
you perform the Pin Test before purchasing a Chairmat
for Carpets. |
| |
|
Computer
Chairmats:
 |
If
you have a carpeted area that is near your computer, you
can also choose a computer chairmat. They are
anti-static chairmats which dissipate harmful static
charges. They too have a Gripper Back and Ramped
Edge.
Computer charimats are recommended for Low Pile
carpet only.
N.B It is recommended that
you perform the Pin Test before purchasing a Computer
Chairmat to ensure that your carpet is only Low
Pile. |
How to Choose a Carpet
Chairmat
- When choosing or recommending a chairmat for carpet, it
is important that you choose the correct mat for the
carpet thickness to ensure long life for both the
chairmat and your carpet.
- Chairmats for carpets are
designed with grippers for holding it in place.
The grippers and chairmat thickness vary in size
depending on the carpet thickness.
- If you use a low
pile chairmat on high pile carpet, the mat will
crack, simply because the mat is not the
correct thickness to 'absorb' castor impact as they
roll on the thick carpet.
Please click on the
link below "How to Choose a
Chairmat" for more information on
how to choose a Carpet Chairmat to ensure that you have
the correct mat for your carpet thickness and how to
perform the "Pin
Test".
IMPORTANT:
1.
If slippage occurs discontinue use as chairmats may not
be appropriate for all floor types (especially highly
polished floors).
2. Clean up spills quickly to
prevent slippage and accidents. Do not use
chairmats in wet areas or where condensation may
occur. If liquid gets under the chairmat, clean up
immediately and make sure area is fully dry before
placing the chairmat back on the floor. Chairmats
are only to be used on completely dry floors at all
times.
3. Clean under mats regularly to remove
foreign objects as they can damage the floor or
chairmat. Dust and dirt can get under chairmats
when cleaning the surrounding area. Therefore, it
is important to check and clean underneath chairmats
regularly.
4. Never store a chairmat in an
upright position. Chairmats must stay flat at all
times (except during transportation if the is less than
24 hours). If a chairmat is stored in an upright
position, it will bend and in some cases can remain
bent. This will damage the chairmat and may pose a
hazard when using the chairmat. This voids
warranty.

Polycarbonate Chair Mats
What
is Polycaronate (PC)?
It is a
material that contains no vinyl and is highly
durable. PC is used in the manufacture of bullet
proof glass and used in the making of aircrafts.
It is also 100% RECYCLABLE and ENVIRONMENTALLY
FRIENDLY.
Why use PC
mats?
Very Durable: Due
to its hardwearing capabilities, this high quality
plastic is used in the aircraft industry and in the
manufacturing of bullet proof
glass.
Clear: They are highly
transparent and impact resistant, making it virtually
unbreakable.
Environmentally
Safe: PVC-free, odourless and completely
free of any toxic chemicals.
Fire
Resistant: Resistant to burning cigarettes
and compatible with floor heating
systems.
Very Ergonomic: Minimal gliding resistance for chairs with
castors.
Negligible Gas
Emissions: making the mats ideal for people
who suffer from allergies and in the vacinity of
children.
PC chairmats can also be used in
alternate applications. Eg:
Under copier
machines, in heavy traffic areas, receptions areas,
under pot plants, at refuse collection points in the
office, pet feeding areas, for heavy ornament surface
protection etc.........
When using these
chairmats in alternative applications other than under a
chair with castors, extreme user caution/discretion must
be displayed to prevent accidents. The
manufacturer/distributor cannot take responsibility for
accidents/damage that occurs unless the chairmat is
faulty. Do not place chairmats where people can
walk on them if they are not aware that the chairmat is
there. Build up can occur on mats from mud, water,
dirt from people's shoes and even from cleaning
equipment and this can cause slippage.
As with any
product that can be purchased in the market place, if
the product is used in a situation for which it is not
designed, then the manufacturer/distributor cannot be
held responsible for accidents/damage that may occur
unless the product is faulty.
Chairmats are not
promoted as non-slip when used in alternate
applications.
